INMATE ATTEMPTS TO TAKE NURSE HOSTAGE

PRESS RELEASE – Earlier this morning, inmate Daniel Aaron Stinnett, who was already in custody on charges of First Degree Murder and Violation of Probation, attempted to take a facility nurse hostage inside an exam room at the Loudon County Detention Facility.

Stinnett was able to briefly close himself with the nurse inside the exam room, where he then assaulted her. Corrections, Patrol, and SWAT Deputies, along with Officers from Loudon Police Department and Lenoir City Police Department quickly made entry and ended the situation without further injury or incident.

The nurse was transported to a local hospital, where she was treated and released. The Loudon County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division is actively investigating this incident. Stinnett will face additional charges including Attempted First Degree Murder and Aggravated Kidnapping.
